DJ AM

disc jockey estadounidense (1973-2009)

Adam Michael Goldstein, known professionally as DJ AM, was a prominent American disc jockey. Born in Philadelphia, his interest in deejaying was sparked at a young age after witnessing Herbie Hancock's performance of "Rockit" in 1983. This early exposure had a lasting impact on Goldstein, shaping his future career in music. As he grew older, however, Goldstein struggled with personal demons, developing a drug addiction during his teenage years.

Goldstein's struggles with addiction led him to the rehabilitation center Straight, Incorporated, although his problems persisted after his departure. His early twenties were marked by a crippling addiction to crack cocaine. A turning point came in 1997 when Goldstein attempted suicide, prompting a journey towards sobriety. Having overcome his own addiction, Goldstein later dedicated himself to helping others, sponsoring fellow addicts through Alcoholics Anonymous. Through his experiences, Goldstein emerged as a talented and resilient figure in the music industry, earning recognition as DJ AM before his passing in 2009.
