empresario y político estadounidense
Neil Goldschmidt was a prominent American politician who held various offices in the state of Oregon and at the federal level. His career spanned over three decades, during which he served as the mayor of Portland, Oregon, as well as the 33rd governor of Oregon. Goldschmidt also held a cabinet position as the United States Secretary of Transportation under President Jimmy Carter. At the height of his career, he was regarded as a highly influential figure in Oregon's politics.
Goldschmidt's legacy, however, was severely impacted by a scandal that emerged in 2004. It was revealed that he had engaged in the sexual abuse of a young teenage girl, which began in 1973 during his first term as mayor of Portland. This revelation had a profound and lasting effect on his career and public image, ultimately damaging his legacy beyond repair. Despite his earlier accomplishments, Goldschmidt's actions led to a reevaluation of his impact on Oregon's politics, and he passed away in 2024.
