Walter Korn
ajedrecista estadounidense
Walter Korn was a prominent American author specializing in chess literature. Born in 1908, he spent his life writing extensively on the subject, producing numerous books and articles for various magazines. Although he was a prolific writer, Korn's personal involvement in competitive chess is not well-documented, with no notable records of his participation in tournament play.
Korn's contributions to the world of chess, however, extend beyond his writings. He served as a FIDE International Judge for chess compositions, showcasing his expertise in the field. One of his notable contributions is the comprehensive coverage of chess in the 1972 edition of the Encyclopædia Britannica, which he authored in its entirety. Despite his reclusive nature, with few chess players having had the opportunity to meet him, Korn's work has had a lasting impact on the chess community, with one of his rare recorded games being a draw against a young Gordon Crown, published in 1943. He passed away in 1997, leaving behind a legacy as a renowned chess author and expert.
